You are free to choose the impact that you have on the world and the impact that others have on you. Impact is a measurable thing. Sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest impact and your Intentional Choices are just like that. We forget that every action we take and every word we speak carries a measurable impact. We are that powerful. What intentional impact would you like to have on the world this month and on the people around you?
For instance, have you ever wondered how far one verbal interaction on your part travels? Perhaps in the morning on the way to work you may stop for coffee. You say something humorous and lighthearted to the person who serves you. You have in essence made a contribution to them and had a positive impact on that person and to the next several people that they serve. Your words are that powerful. It would be interesting to see how far the impact of your initial comment travels.
Have you ever stopped and considered or measured the impact that the words or actions of others have on you, or do you usually instinctively react feeling that you have no choice? You are free to choose the impact that the words and actions of others have on you. Just the intention to choose the impact can make all the difference. Simply give yourself a choice and ask, “To what degree do I want to let this comment or action impact me.” Choose the impact. By asking yourself that one question, you give yourself a conscious choice over the impact of another upon you and for most of us that can mean the difference between a good day and a frustrating day.
Choosing the impact that you have on your world and realizing that you have a choice over the impact that the words and actions of others have on you is simply the gift of being conscious of the power of your Intentional Choices. You are always free to make a choice.
